Contaminated Land Remediation

Enabling growth and development of Contaminated Land Remediation businesses

Due to fundamental changes in the regulation, assessment and management of contaminated land, coupled with rapid development and implementation of novel remediation technologies, there is a need for innovation and knowledge transfer into the contaminated land remediation sector.

Contaminated Land The Lancaster Environment Centre offers businesses a valuable resource to increase competitiveness and boost growth in the contaminated land sector. Benefits are delievered by enabling access to our extensive technical, R&D, consultancy and training resources. Furthermore co-location of your company alongside us maximises the above opportunities through intigration with one of the largest environmental research institute in Europe.

Contaminated Land Remediation Consortium

The Lancaster Environment Centre is currently developing a Contaminated Land Remediation consortium. The aim of the consortium is to bring together a cluster of companies who offer complimentary activities, non competitive, activities that can work alongside the Knowledge Base at LEC, to a holistic and dynamic CLR service. It is envisaged that the consortium will provide the customer with a "One Stop Shop" for CLR solutions and serve to drive innovation in the sector.

CLR R&D Programme

Research and Development

The Centre for Chemicals Management, an integrated research centre within LEC, conducts cutting edge research into the fundamental processes affecting organic contaminant-biota interactions in soils. The CLR team, led by Dr Kirk T Semple, has a specialist interest in bioremediation and are actively collaborating with industry partners to develop advanced remediation solutions. The Centre for Chemicals Management are keen to foster R&D relationships with companies with a view to developing Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, Case Studentships and independent research opportunities.

New Training Programme in Contaminated Land Remediation

Training in Contaminated Land

Contaminated Land Remediation Training ProgrammeThe Lancaster Environment Centre “Contaminated Land: Risk Assessment and Bioremediation Training" CPD Programme serves to address fundamental issues relating to contaminants in the environment; historical, contemporary and up-coming changes in contaminated land regulation; biological, biochemical and computer based techniques for assessing the hazard and risk posed by contaminated land and detailed discussion of biological strategies used to ameliorate contaminated land. With contributions from academic members of staff and leading consultants the course is delivered over two complementary 2-day modules (September and January) through a combination of lectures and computer workshops, supported by laboratory demonstrations.

MSc in Contaminated Land and Remediation

The Masters programme in Contaminated Land and Remediation covers many aspects of risk assessment and remediation and is supported by a strong research base providing highly contemporary material. Case studies are used extensively to illustrate the application of the taught material and specifically include detailed investigations into the risk assessment and remediation of contaminated land sites.

The MSc in Contaminated Land and Remediation is also offered as a part-time course, designed for industry professionals, allowing the programme to be completed over a period of 24 months.
