International Workshop on Chemical Risk Assessment and Environmental Management Successfully Convene
LEC joined forces with the Chinese organizations responsible for developing new chemicals regulations and environmental management standards to convene The First International Workshop on Chemical Risk Assessment and Environmental Management in Beijing in April 2011.

Chemicals management in China
A high profile International workshop was held on the 14th and 15th December 2010 in Shanghai. Under the auspices of the RC-UK China Bridge program, the workshop was funded by Unilever and jointly organised by the Safety and Environmental Assurance Centre (Unilever), Lancaster Environment Centre and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

Lancaster exchanges diffuse pollution knowledge across China
Maria-Fernanda Aller (LEC), Phil Haygarth (LEC) and Roger Pickup (Health and Medicine) travelled to China last week to attend several events that focussed on diffuse pollution, water contamination and antibiotic resistance as part of the UK China Bridge project.

LEC deepens its relationships with prestigious Chinese partners
Vice Chancellor, Prof. Paul Wellings, together with LEC staff Prof Bill Davies, Dr Merce Aloy, Dr Hong Li and Prof Kevin Jones, visited the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and China Agriculture University (CAU) in Beijing in late September 2010, to further strengthen collaborations with China.

Queen Presents Prize to LEC Researcher
The Queen has presented an award at Buckingham Palace for Lancaster University's world-class research into watersaving techniques for agriculture. Her Majesty presented the Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education to Distinguished Professor Bill Davies, who led a team of plant biologists at the Lancaster Environment Centre in the development of the research.

LEC research awarded a Queen's Anniversary Prize
The development of water saving techniques for agriculture which have helped farmers in some of the driest regions of the world, has won Lancaster University a Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education. It is the third time the University has received one of these prestigious awards.
