Facilities
The Lancaster team has amongst the best analytical facilities in the world for environmental organic chemistry research. We have a range of state-of-the-art instrumentation, including:
- Dedicated clean room for ultra-trace sample preparation
- Separate extraction and handling labs for air, soil and biota samples
- High resolution GC-MS
- Dedicated bench top GC-MS systems for particular compound classes
- Dedicated C-14 laboratory and facilities
- Dedicated environmental microbiology laboratories
- LC-MS systems
We have excellent technical support for our work, and a wide range of field sites and locations for our studies. We combine laboratory studies, field studies, field observation, and modelling work.
Further exciting developments will take place in the coming months, with greater amalgamation with our sister institute, the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology on the Lancaster campus.
